Brandi Weaver and Aaron Welch Wedding 11/12/2011

I returned to the Chateau Bellevue, on November 12, 2011, which is one of my favorite wedding facilities in Austin for the wedding of Brandi Weaver and Aaron Welch. After the ceremony conducted on the veranda, the party moved inside, where Brandi and Aaron did their first dance to "Lullabye" by The Dixie Chicks after introduction of the bridal party (while "Raise Your Glass" by Pink played).

As you can see from the above picture, we had a lighted monogram for the dancefloor.

We also did pink uplighting for the room.

After dinner and toasts, Brandi and Aaron went to cut the cake and the dance floor opened up.

Kimberly and Andrew Marcus Wedding 10/22/2011

We had an awesome wedding at The Gardens of Cranesbury View in New Braunfels, TX on 10/22/2011. All of the planning had to be done via email or phone as the bride was in Switzerland and the groom was in Pennsylvania. For this wedding the color scheme was fall colors, so we used our uplighting package to add a warm glow to the facility, as you can see from the below picture:

Special thanks goes to Laura Cathey for assisting me at this wedding.

I had a fantastic time at this wedding and from the below review (available here), so did the bride and groom:
"Greg was an excellent DJ. He had asked for song and genre suggestions prior to the wedding, and he fulfilled all of these (even the songs we requested mere days beforehand).
He provided the desired amount of interaction with the guests and announcing the different events during the evening, without going overboard. Our guests were dancing constantly after dinner, which is a credit to him keeping the right music playing.
He even surprised us by recording the best man and maid of honor toasts, which is something we'll treasure amongst our favorite wedding mementos.
We also used him to provide uplighting in the room, which again was exactly what we wanted (even though we had a difficult time describing it to him, he fine-tuned the color to create the desired effect).
I would highly recommend GGC to anyone looking for DJ services in the area."

Natali Sandlin and Carson Thomas Wedding 9/4/2011

This was my first wedding at The Hummingbird House. Prior to the wedding, we received news of the wildfires in Bastrop. With the wind blowing our direction, we began to smell the smoke. Fortunatelly, nothing happened to us and the smoke disappeared well before the start of the ceremony.

We met Jenny and Jesse at the Bridal Extravaganza show in June. Their wedding was held at House on the Hill, which is one of my favorite facilities in the Austin area. Nice and intimate. Everything can be done onsite, including rooms for the bride and groom. This was a great wedding.

Cheadle/Winfrey Wedding 03/12/2011

After a break from writing event blogs, I'm back to write some more. What a wedding to start the wedding season, which seems to last from March to October.

The wedding and reception were held at the Walden Plantation in Llano, Tx. This is a new bed and breakfast in the hill country right on the Llano River. The wedding was held next to the pool and hottub. The reception was held in a tent just behind the facility.

What a wedding to start the season with. With almost 300 guests and running from 6:00 to midnight, this was going to be a awesome reception. Plus, this was the first wedding I got to use my new Chauvet Min Laser. Against the ceiling of the white tent, the laser looked fantastic.

Wedding 12/31/2010 at Texas Old Town in Kyle, Tx

I know I haven't added a show blog in a while, but it it my goal to add one after every wedding in 2011.
And there is no better time to start than after being a wedding DJ for a New Year's Eve wedding. The wedding for Jeslyn and Will Sabol was held at Texas Old Town in Kyle, Texas. This was my first time at Texas Old Town and I really enjoyed the facility. Lots of dancefloor space and an easy load in area in the back.
This was a fun couple and their guests were ready to party, with it being New Year's Eve and all. The ceremony was held outside just a short walk from the Tejas reception hall. It was a perfect night for a ceremony with no clouds in the sky and the temperature around 50 degrees. The ceremony ended with a nice fireworks show (a first for me).
During the dinner, I played a variety of the guest's requests which they were allowed to make on their invitations. Some of these included:
"Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis Presley
"She's No Lady, She's My Wife" by Lyle Lovett
"I Get a Kick Out of You" By Frank Sinatra
"Bread and Water" by Ryan Bingham
"My Home Town" by Charlie Robinson
"The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michallson
"Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow
"Today is the Day" by Shake Russell
"Right of Rain" by Adele
"Love Letter" by Bonnie Raitt
"No One is Gonna Love You More Than I Do" by Band of Horses
and "Everyday Angel" by Radney Foster.

First Dance - "Then" by Brad Paisley
Father/Daughter Dance was written by the Father of the Bride. The first verse was sung to her by him, then the minister sang the rest of the song. The song was excellent and if recorded, I believe it could be a standard for father/daugher dances in the future.
Stepfather/Daughter Dance - "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John
Mother/Son Dance - "Blessed" by Elton John
Cake Cutting - "How Sweet It Is" by Michael Buble

Playlist:
I Gotta Feeling - BEP
Forever - Chris Brown
Magic Carpet Ride/Old Time Rock N Roll
Cupid Shuffle
Dynamite
Aggie War Hymn
Tosses (Single Ladies, Sharp Dressed Man)
Retro Megamix
I'm Yours
When a Man Loves a Woman
The Way You Look Tonight

Hot Stuff
Countdown to Midnight/Auld Lang Syne
Like a G6
You Shook Me All Night Long
Living on a Prayer
Don't Stop Believing

Last Dance - "You Are the Best Thing" - Ray LaMontagne

I wish I could have played a lot longer for this group as they were ready to party. It's weddings like this where I've done a great job at the end of the night and everyone went home happy, especially the bride and groom.
